How Xexxy: A Handwritten Font Transformed Our Brand’s Look

When I first started my small candle-making business, I focused on perfecting the scent, the wax, and the jar. But over time, I noticed something missing—our labels looked generic, like they belonged on any shelf at a big-box store. Customers loved the product, but the packaging didn’t reflect the care we put into every candle. It wasn’t until a designer friend suggested I try Xexxy that I realized how much a font could change everything.

What Is Xexxy and Why It Feels Different

Xexxy is a handwritten font that feels relaxed and personable. It’s not overly stylized or dramatic—it’s more like a warm note from a friend. The curves are soft, the spacing feels natural, and it carries a kind of warmth that printed text rarely does. When I first saw it on our candle labels, it felt like we were finally speaking directly to our customers, not just selling to them.

It’s ideal for short phrases, logos, packaging titles, and display text. You wouldn’t want to use it for long paragraphs, but for names, taglines, quotes, or a touch of personality on a business card, it’s perfect. It’s part of the Script Amp category, which means it’s expressive without being overwhelming. And because it’s a premium font, it has that subtle polish that makes your brand feel more intentional.

From Labels to Logos: Where Xexxy Shines

We started with candle jars, but once we saw how much better our brand looked with Xexxy, we expanded its use across all our materials. Our logo, which used to be in a basic script, now felt more authentic. Our thank-you cards and packaging inserts looked more personal. Even our Instagram stories and website banners felt more cohesive.

Here are some of the places we’ve used Xexxy:

Each time, the result was the same: our brand felt more consistent, more polished, and more approachable. That’s the power of good typography—it doesn’t just look better, it makes your business feel more trustworthy.

Typography Matters More Than You Think

Before this experience, I never thought much about fonts. I assumed they were just a detail. But typography shapes how people feel about your brand before they even read the words. A clean, professional font can make a new customer feel confident. A warm, handwritten style like Xexxy can make them feel like they’re connecting with a real person.

It also affects readability. Xexxy works best at medium to large sizes, which makes it great for headlines, packaging titles, and digital banners. On small printed labels or mobile thumbnails, we found it’s best to use it sparingly and pair it with a clean sans serif font for supporting text. This helps keep the design balanced and easy to read.

Font Pairing Made Simple

One of the easiest ways to elevate your brand visuals is to pair Xexxy with another font. We use it for our main brand name and tagline, then pair it with a simple sans serif like Helvetica or Open Sans for the rest of the text. This gives contrast without clutter.

If you’re going for a more elegant look—say for a boutique skincare line or a luxury candle brand—you could pair Xexxy with a serif font like Playfair Display. For a more modern, minimalist vibe, a clean sans serif like Montserrat or Lato works beautifully. The key is to let Xexxy be the star while keeping the rest of the design simple and legible.

Practical Tips for Using Xexxy

When we first started using Xexxy, we had to learn a few things the hard way. Here’s what we’ve found helpful:

  1. Check the file formats: Make sure the font includes web and print versions if you plan to use it on your website and packaging.
  2. Look for alternates and ligatures: Xexxy comes with stylistic alternates that let you customize the look for different uses.
  3. Consider multilingual support: If you sell internationally or use social media in multiple languages, check that the font supports extended characters.
  4. Verify commercial licensing: Some fonts can’t be used on physical products or in digital templates for resale. Xexxy is licensed for commercial use, which makes it perfect for small businesses like ours.

Also, always test the font at different sizes. Xexxy is a display font, so it looks best when it’s not too small. For product tags or mobile graphics, we often use a smaller size but increase the spacing to keep it legible.

Why Xexxy Works for Small Brands

As a small business owner, I’m always looking for tools that make a big impact without a steep learning curve. Xexxy checks both boxes. It’s easy to use, versatile across different media, and gives our brand a unique personality. Whether it’s on a candle jar, a thank-you card, or a digital ad, it makes our visuals feel more connected and intentional.

And that’s what branding is really about—not just looking good, but feeling real. Xexxy helped us do both, and it’s a decision I’d make again in a heartbeat.
